If TessDrive's WiFi password was changed or mistyped and your Tesla can no longer connect, you can reset it back to the default in about a minute — no tools, and nothing on the device is erased.
The reset is triggered by a simple physical signal: starting TessDrive twice with its WiFi adapter unplugged. Here's the whole thing:
Disconnect power from TessDrive. Then unplug the small USB WiFi adapter (the dongle TessDrive broadcasts its network from).
With the adapter still unplugged, power TessDrive on, wait about a minute, power it off, and power it on once more. Those two start-ups without the adapter are what reset the WiFi password back to the factory default.
Power off, reconnect the USB WiFi adapter, and power on one last time. TessDrive's network comes back up on the default password.
On your Tesla, rejoin the TessDrive network using the default password $treamer. TessDrive will prompt you to choose a new one right away — pick something you'll remember, and confirm it (you'll enter it twice, so a typo can't lock you out again).
The WiFi reset only restores the network password. If a Parental Lock PIN is set, it stays in place — this procedure can't be used to get around it. Forgot the PIN itself? That has its own recovery: on the lock screen, tap Forgot PIN and contact us with the code it shows, and we'll issue an unlock code — no data lost.
Prefer not to reset? If you can still reach TessDrive's home screen, you can simply change the password from Settings → AP Password instead — no power-cycling needed.
